Hon. Helena Guergis, P.C., M.P. announces funding for the Township of Adjala Tos
June 13, 2009
Residents of the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding for local road improvements and repairs to the Everett Reservoir, announced M.P. Helena Guergis and M.P.P. Aileen Carroll today. These projects are an example of both governments’ commitment to stimulating the Ontario economy through the creation of jobs in our communities.
These projects will improve local services and create local jobs.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Government is getting shovels in the ground and is flowing money faster to stimulate the economy and create jobs for Ontarians” said Guergis. “Thanks to the strong relationship between our two governments, we can work together to help Ontario communities and the economy thrive immediately and in the future.”
“Under the leadership of Premier Dalton McGuinty, Ontario is leading the way” said Carroll. We are creating jobs and the decisions announced today will soon lead to improved transportation and enhanced facilities and services in our community. Our governments are working together to modernize infrastructure-creating a competitive advantage that attracts business and strengthens our economy today and into the future.”
The governments of Canada and Ontario will each invest up to $155,298 in the project. Adjala-Tosorontio will contribute the balance of the total eligible project costs of up to $470,600
As Mayor for the Township of Adjala – Tosorontio I am very pleased to hear that grant applications submitted to the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario by the Township have been approved and will help to cover costs associated with the paving and maintenance of Concession Road 7 and 30th Sideroad of former Adjala and the repairs to the Everett Reservoir in former Tosorontio.
These grants mean a lot to the municipality and our residents and I would like to thank the Honourable Helena Guergis for her commitment and efforts in helping to support the municipality in our quest to improve our roads and water network. These projects are some of the many projects across the province that will break ground thanks to $3.9 billion in joint federal and provincial funding. The governments of Canada and Ontario have taken steps to get shovels in the ground and to flow money faster fro targeted infrastructure projects starting in the 2009 construction season. |
