Hon. Helena Guergis, P.C., M.P. announces funding for Clearview township
Residents of Clearview Township will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding to link the trail network through Stayner to the network of trails within Collingwood, announced M.P. Helena Guergis and M.P.P. Aileen Carroll today. This project is an example of both governments’ commitment to stimulating the Ontario economy through the creation of jobs in our communities.
This project will support a healthier life style and create local jobs.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Government is getting shovels in the ground and is flowing money faster to stimulate the economy and create jobs for Ontarians” said Guergis. “Thanks to the strong relationship between our two governments, we can work together to help Ontario communities and the economy thrive immediately and in the future.”
“Under the leadership of Premier Dalton McGuinty, Ontario is leading the way” said Carroll. We are creating jobs and the decisions announced today will soon lead to improved transportation and enhanced facilities and services in our community. Our governments are working together to modernize infrastructure-creating a competitive advantage that attracts business and strengthens our economy today and into the future.”
Mayor Ferguson said “the money for the trails from the upper tiers of governments is greatly appreciated. In linking the trails both Stayner and Collingwood will benefit. This project will encourage healthy living and a healthy lifestyle.”
The governments of Canada and Ontario will each invest up to $66,667 in the project. Clearview Township will contribute the balance of the total eligible project costs of up to $200,000.
